All times are computed astronomically per lat/lon — a Mumbai widget and a Kolkata widget show genuinely different, correct times.
Caching pattern
Panchang data changes once per day per city: fetch at midnight IST per city you serve, cache, and serve unlimited pageviews from your cache. A 5-city site at 4 calls per city per day uses ~600 calls/month — inside the free plan; a 50-city national site (~200 calls/day, ~6,000/month) fits the ₹499 Starter plan (10,000 calls). Tithi, nakshatra and masa names come with Hindi twins (name_hi) in the same response; yoga, karana and weekday names are English.
Why do panchang times differ between cities?
Rahu Kaal, choghadiya and even tithi boundaries are anchored to local sunrise/sunset. The API computes from the lat/lon you pass, matching what a local printed panchang shows for that city.
Which ayanamsa and conventions are used?
Lahiri ayanamsa (the Indian government standard) with sunrise-anchored day conventions — the mainstream match for North-Indian printed panchangs. Month names support Purnimanta display.
Can I show festivals like Ekadashi automatically?
Yes — the festivals endpoint returns computed tithi-based observances (every Ekadashi, Pradosh, Purnima, Amavasya) plus major festivals with dates, so your calendar stays correct every year without manual editing.
